About Us

The Greater Rochester Area School Psychologists (GRASP) was founded in 1985 and achieved non-profit status in 1992 through the vision and initiative of Tom Zieno, a school psychologist from Pittsford. Since its inception, GRASP has been dedicated to organizing workshops and conferences tailored to school psychologists’ interests and professional development needs.

As an independent organization, GRASP is neither affiliated with nor in competition with other professional school psychology organizations. In accordance with our by-laws, we do not engage in lobbying or politically motivated activities.

Unlike traditional membership-based organizations, GRASP does not maintain a general membership. Instead, we aim to keep all area school psychologists informed by including them on our email lists. The Board of Directors consists of up to fifteen school psychologists from various school districts across Monroe County and surrounding areas. When vacancies arise, we prioritize recruiting representatives from districts not already represented to ensure that both urban and suburban perspectives are reflected in our planning and activities.

If you are passionate about contributing to the growth of the school psychology community and helping to plan future conferences, we encourage you to reach out to a member of the Board of Directors. Your involvement can help shape the future of GRASP and the resources we provide to our profession.
